CAIRO – 9 June 2023: Egyptian politician, activist and member of National Council for Human Rights George Ishak passed away on Friday at age of 85.
Ishak passed after facing a sudden health problem, as a result of which he was transferred to intensive care in a hospital.
Abdel Moneim Imam, head of Justice Party, wrote on his facebook account: “The saint of national work, George Ishak, has passed away”
Ishak was an Egyptian politician and activist. During the later part of Hosni Mubarak's presidency, he co-founded the grassroots ‘Kefaya’ opposition movement.
Ishak was Born and raised in Port Said, graduated from Cairo University with a BA in history and began his career as a history teacher, headmaster and later as a consultant.
Politically, Ishak was active at a young age of his life.
