CAIRO – 29 May 2023: Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohamad Shtayyeh said that Egypt has been sponsoring the reconciliation file since the beginning, as Gaza has been in constant communication with Cairo.
He added in televised statements to al Qahera news channel that Gaza always seeks to know the Egyptian opinion in the on-going events, as ‘Egypt has always been keen on the Palestinian unity’
Shtayyeh noted that the national dialogue was called for by the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas and that there are on-going consultations in order to launch the dialogue.
He referred to previous dialogues that took place among several Palestinian powers that resulted in elections, ‘but unfortunately it was hindered by Israel’.
The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed that there is communication between the Central Committee of the Fatah movement and Hamas on these dialogue issues, and there are discussions in order to reach an inclusive and comprehensive dialogue among the political powers.
