CAIRO – 29 May 2023: Egypt’s armed forces have received on Monday the second frigate (MEKO-A200), which was built by the (TKMS) company in the German (SBN) arsenal.
This step comes within the continuation of the efforts of the Armed Forces to support the combat and technical capabilities of the Egyptian Navy and develop them in accordance with the latest global combat systems.
Lieutenant General Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Naval Forces, raised the Egyptian flag on the ‘Al Qahhar frigate’, which is the second out of four MEKO-A200 frigates contracted between Egypt and Germany, during a ceremony held in the German city of Bremerhaven.
Lieutenant General Atwa, delivered a speech during which he conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah al Sisi, Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and Minister of Defense and Military Production, expressing his appreciation for the fruitful cooperation between the Egyptian Navy and its German counterpart.
The new multi-tasking frigate "Al Qahhar" has many technical characteristics and modern armament systems that enable it to carry out all combat missions at sea in times of peace and war, and to secure the country's various natural resources at sea, which makes it a tremendous technological addition to the capabilities of the naval forces and support their ability to protect national security.
