CAIRO - 26 May 2023: The Egyptian National Council for Women (NCW) launched an awareness media campaign within the framework of the project "Addressing the Economic Motives of Illegal Immigration."
The Council is implementing the campaign in partnership with the European Union, and in light of Egypt's adoption of an integrated strategy to eliminate illegal immigration, and its negative impact on women.
Egypt Today publishes the details of the campaign and its objectives, as follows:
1- The campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of economic empowerment of women and youth.
2- It sheds light on the dangers of illegal immigration.
3- It is broadcast daily on various radio stations for a month.
4- The campaign is voiced in an audio performance by Dr. Ali Gomaa, the former Grand Mufti of Egypt and a member of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, in addition to journalist Nashwa Al-Hofy and a member of the National Council for Women.
5- It includes a number of animated videos that are published on the official social media pages of the National Council for Women.
6- The campaign dedicated the hashtag #On_Al_Bar as the slogan of the campaign.
7- The campaign mainly aims to educate women about the dangers of illegal immigration and encourage them to properly deal with this issue
8- Women play a pivotal role within families, in addition to educating young people and encouraging them to search for positive and safe alternatives available to provide safe work opportunities at home and abroad.
9- The slogan of the campaign "On the Land" symbolizes for safety that a person hopes to seek refuge in, which may be represented in the family, the homeland, and everything that provides the person with a sense of security.
10- Everyone should think carefully before making decisions that may affect the entire family, especially the woman who plays an important role in the stability of the family.
11- The project "Addressing the Economic Motives of Illegal Immigration" aims to encourage the provision of an alternative to illegal immigration by stimulating the development of projects and creating job opportunities for women and youth in selected villages in the governorates of Beheira, Gharbia, Luxor and Minya.
12- The project aims to implement awareness activities to highlight the risks associated with illegal immigration based on previous efforts.
