The story of the Egyptian wrestler, Ahmed Fouad Baghdoda, has triggered controversy on social media over the past few days.
Baghdoda has sparked a state of frustration, wrath and shock on social media as he reportedly “fled” to France just after he won the silver medal as part of the Egyptian team at the 2023 African Wrestling Championships, which was held in Tunisia this month.
Baghdoda left his bag and belongings in the hotel and took his passport to travel from Tunisia to France a few hours before his scheduled return to Cairo.

Fouad Baghdoda said his son was rewarded LE 16,000 for the silver medal he won during the championship before the prize was deducted to only LE 1,200 after taxes.
A per President Abdel Fattah al Sisi directives, Baghdoda was invited to receive a training grant.
