Know more about integrated industrial waste treatment plant in Abu Qir

CAIRO - 23 May 2023: Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Engineer Tarek El-Molla, inaugurated the industrial wastewater treatment and reuse unit (ZLD) in Abu Qir Fertilizers, which is one of the largest industrial wastewater treatment units.

 

The establishment of the treatment unit came in line with the global trend and the Egyptian state’s plan towards achieving sustainability and expanding the establishment of environmentally friendly projects.

 

Below is the most important information, as follows:

 

1- One of the largest industrial wastewater treatment plants.

 

2- The industrial wastewater is treated, utilized and provided for agriculture.

 

3- It has another environmental and economic impact, which is providing the corresponding chemicals to treat this quantity.

 

4- It produces a by-product (ammonium sulfate) that is used in agriculture to be added to the soil with organic fertilizers during the winter service or during the processing operations for new crops, as it helps to accelerate the decomposition of organic fertilizers.

 

Engineer Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, directed, during the inauguration, to start the procedures for offering the second treatment unit for industrial wastewater in light of the economic savings, the distinguished environmental impact and the sustainability achieved by environmental compatibility projects for industrial entities.
