CAIRO – 23 May 2023: Five million tons of fodder have been imported and entered Egypt since October 2022 to make a breakthrough in the prices of fodder, said Muhammad Al-Qersh, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture.

Although Qersh’s comments reflect the government’s efforts in providing fodder needed for animal and pourtly industries, prices of meat and chicken are still high due to the high prices of the feed.

In media comments to “Al-Hayat Al-Youm” program, Qersh added that t the entry of this large amount of feed made the stability of feed prices, which led to an increase in the production process, whether for animal or pourtly production.

The Ministry approved the entry of 170,000 heads of livestock that will be present during the coming period.

In October 2022, Egypt experienced a shortage in feed nationwide, which led some farmers to execute chicks. During a meeting at that time, Madbouli said the feed shortage crisis took place due to the repercussions of the current global crisis, which affected multiple goods and other products.

Since then, the government has facilitated release of dozens of shipments of chicken fodder like soybeans and sweet corns.
