CAIRO – 22 May 2023: Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said a planned flight to evacuate citizens from Sudan’s Dongola Airport on Tuesday before 6 AM has been postponed.

The new date will be announced once determined, the ministry said in a statement today.

Evacuation operations continue via land from Qustul and Arqeen crossings, the ministry said.

The ministry also continues to receive the citizens’ reports and inquiries around the clock and throughout the week via these numbers:

01281943599

01283176894

01283176866

01283176900

Amid the fighting that broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in mid-April, Egypt has evacuated thousands of citizens and received tens of thousands of Sudanese people and nationals of other countries.

So far, Egypt has evacuated more than 7,800 Egyptians, according to data by the Ministry of Immigration earlier in May.

Egypt has received 98,000 people coming from Sudan out of 120,000 people who fled from the clashes to neighboring countries, according to data by the UN last week.
