CAIRO - 22 December 2023: President Abdel Fatah El Sisi welcomed on Sunday Omani Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said at Al Ittahadyia Palace, who is on a two-day visit to Cairo. 
 
In this report, et highlights the path of the bilateral relations between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman, as it was marked by a number of important milestones that established the foundations of those relations. 
 
In the below lines, et reviews the most prominent historic events between both countries:  
 
1479 BC
 
Relations between the two countries date back to 3,500 years. Historical studies indicate cooperation between the two countries during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut in 1479 BC, across the Red Sea.
 
 
1798
 
In 1798, the ruler of Oman, Sultan bin Ahmed, stopped his negotiations with France, in protest against the French campaign in Egypt.
 
 
1956
 
The Omani people stand in solidarity with Egypt against the tripartite aggression, as the Omani people were angry of what the tripartite aggression did in Egypt, and Oman state announced its support for Egypt at that time.
 
 
1977
 
Sultan Qaboos bin Said announced his refusal to boycott Egypt, like other states did, after the late President Anwar Sadat decided to resort to peace and sign the Camp David Accords.
 
 
1984
 
The late Sultan Qaboos said, in his historical statement about Egypt: “It has been proven throughout the stages of contemporary history that Egypt was the main element in building the Arab entity and ranks….”
 
 
2013
 
The visit of Youssef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, to Egypt, stressing continued support for security and stability in Egypt.
 
 
2014
 
The Sultanate participated with a high-ranking delegation in the inauguration ceremony of President Al-Sisi.
 
 
2015
 
The Sultanate participated with a high-ranking delegation in the inauguration ceremony of President Sisi at the Sharm El-Sheikh Economic Conference, and the opening of the new Suez Canal on August 6, 2015.
 
 
2017
 
  The year 2017 was an Egyptian-Omani year par excellence, as relations witnessed a strong boost, and the visit of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to the Sultanate.
 
 
January 2017
 
Sultan Qaboos issued a decree directing his government to ease the obstacles facing Egyptian workers in the Sultanate and to allocate $250 million for investments in Egypt.
 
 
April 2017
 
Youssef bin Alawi, the former minister responsible for Omani foreign affairs, visited Cairo, where he met with Egyptian President El-Sisi.
 
 
November 2017
 
The time marks the visit of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry for the second time to the Sultanate, stressing the strength of the relationship between the two countries.
 
 
2018
 
This year marks the first visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the Sultanate of Oman since his assumption of the presidency, and it represented an important stage in the path of bilateral relations.
 
 
2022
 
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited Oman for the first time during the reign of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, where both countries signed of many economic agreements.
