CAIRO - 12 May 2023: In a bid to create a new type of tourism, Fayoum governorate is set to host one of the most promising projects, titled: "Safe Sanctuary for Wildlife."
The project to be established in cooperation with Kingdom of Jordan represented by Princess Alia Bint Al-Hussein; the project has been located in Wadi Al-Rayyan Reserve in Fayoum Governorate on an area of 1,000 acres.
The project is meant to provide housing for animals that have been abused and rescued, in addition to including programs to encourage local and international tourists to visit the safe haven, and the development of an educational program for children and adults, as well as the establishment of a recycling project in Wadi El Rayan Reserve, with the possibility of linking the project with educational programs for local schools, to raise environment and creates new job opportunities for the local population.
The safe haven also includes the implementation of a project to plant indigenous trees in the reserve, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Botanical Gardens, and the establishment of a school for mentally and physically handicapped learners in cooperation with universities and non-governmental organizations.
The project further involves providing the necessary training for teachers in that school, in addition to establishing 50 environmentally friendly hostels for visiting tourists. for the reserve.
The Fayoum governor pointed out the role of the media in raising awareness of the importance of preserving reserves as a global wealth, indicating that the various media outlets will be informed of the steps being implemented in the safe haven project, step by step, expressing his hope that the project will achieve its desired goals.
He added that the Safe Haven for Wildlife project was an ambassador for the governorate, and was honored during the activities of the national conference to announce the results of the winning projects of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, which was held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.
