CAIRO - 18 July 2017: Aneesa Hassouna, member of the Parliament’s Committee of Foreign Affairs repeated a call on the parliament on Tuesday to issue a law requiring activation of surveillance cameras in private buildings, shops and during assemblies, to be evidence for investigations of terror attacks.

Hassouna submitted this bill during the previous legislative round , but Parliament has not considered nor approved it yet, despite its vital importance.

The member explained to Egypt Today, that such a law would show the accurate incidence of any crime, and could prevent an attack before its occurrence.

The legislations will provide for the presence of surveillance cameras in different places and areas of the country as it will identify the perpetrators of any crime, in order to speed up litigation and maintain security.

Egypt has witnessed several terrorist attacks during the past period that caused the death of dozens of citizens and security forces; while terrorism cases are at court pending conclusion under the amendments of the Criminal Procedures and Anti-Terrorism laws approved by President Sisi May 1, 2017.
