CAIRO – 9 May 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Tuesday Major Tutkew Gatluak, advisor to South Sudanese president for security affairs, who delivered a message from President Salva Kiir on bilateral relations, Sudanese crisis, and efforts to achieve a settlement.

The meeting, which was attended by Egyptian Chief of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) Abbas Kamel, tackled the perilous challenges facing Sudan on the humanitarian, security, and political levels.

The two sides stressed the importance of encouraging Sudanese parties to abide by the truce, and maintain a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire. That would allow the delivery of humanitarian aid, and pave the way for launching a constructive dialogue to settle differences and resolve the crisis.

As a result, it would be possible to resume the transitional pathway and political process in a way that would preserve the unity of the Sudanese state, fulfill the ambitions of the Sudanese people, and maintain its high interests.
