CAIRO- 8 May 2023: The number of Egyptian evacuees from Sudan is more than 7,800 people since the outbreak of clashes between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Sudanese Rapid Forces (SRF) on April 15, 2023, stated Egyptian Minister of Migration Suha Gendy in comments to “Mr. Citizen” talk show on Monday.

A large number of Egyptians will arrive home through a ship moved on Monday to evacuate the Egyptians from Sudan, she added.

Gendy added that an air evacuation was carried o for several days, besides a land evacuation process.

Other people from other countries and Sudanese people have been evacuated through Egypt, she continued.

Diplomatically, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry made, on May 4, a phone call to each of Chairman of the Transitional Military Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.

The minister underscored Egypt's deep concern about the persistence of military confrontations, which has incurred deaths among civilians and put the security and stability of Sudan in grave peril. In that context, he urged an immediate ceasefire to preserve the wealth of the Sudanese people, and serve the high national interest.
