CAIRO – 8 May 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry delivered Monday a message from President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to Chadian counterpart Mahamat Deby on bilateral relations, Sudan crisis, and role of Chad - among other neighboring states - in supporting a ceasefire.
President Deby expressed his deep appreciation for the Egyptian chief of state for sending the minister of foreign affairs to Chad in this timing where Sudan is experiencing a very dire security and political challenge.
The president noted that Chad is keen on coordinating with Egypt to encourage Sudanese parties to abide by the ceasefire aimed at facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, and paving the way for resolving disagreements.
In that context, Minister Shokry displayed the efforts deployed by Egypt since the beginning of the crisis, highlighting that the country had received 60,000 displaced Sudanese.
