CAIRO – 4 May 2023: Assistant to Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs Ayman Kamel and Secretary of Overseas Indian Affairs Ausaf Sayeed held Wednesday in Cairo the 12th round of political consultations, which included following up on the outcomes of the visit made by the Egyptian president to India in January.
The two sides conferred over ways of stepping up bilateral relations to the level of the strategic partnership. Ambassador Kamel reiterated Egypt's eagerness for pushing forward collaboration in the economic and cultural sectors as well as trade exchange.
On that front, the Egyptian diplomat showcased that the Cabinet had established the "India Unit," which is concerned with eliminating any obstacles that would face Indian investors. He noted that Egypt is ready to allocate an industrial zone to India, calling on the Indian side to invest in SCzone.
The assistant to the minister of foreign affairs similarly expressed interest in exchanging experience in the sectors of ICT, digital transformation, automotive, education, healthcare, renewable energy, and textile.
In turn, the Indian delegation valued the cooperation with Egypt on the bilateral and regional levels, expressing appreciation for mutual support in the framework of the international community and aspiration to expand cooperation.
The meeting concluded by agreeing on preparing well for the eighth meeting of the ministerial committee chaired by the foreign ministers of both countries.
