CAIRO – 27 April 2023: The Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue praised Egypt’s efforts to help the return of Egyptian citizens and other nationals from Sudan, where military operations between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are taking place.
In a statement, the Board of Trustees welcomed Sudanese nationals who escaped the ongoing clashes to Egypt, calling upon all warring parties to stop violence and start peace negotiations.
Egypt has stepped up its evacuation efforts in Sudan as it managed to evacuate more than 16,000 people, including Egyptians and other nationals, according to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's Thursday statement.
Since the clashes started between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) last week, Egypt has been calling for consolidating a ceasefire in Sudan and ending hostilities
Egypt, which has around 10,000 citizens,including students, in Sudan, has so far repatriated 1,539 citizens, according to figures released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
