Egyptian students in Sudan consider transferring to local universities

CAIRO – 27 April 2023: Secretary General of the Private Universities Council Mohamed Helmy al-Ghor and Head of the Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohamed Samir Hamza met Thursday – via videoconferencing - with a number of Egyptian students who are studying at Sudanese universities.

The two officials listened to the problems the students are facing in light of the current crisis in Sudan, and answered their questions with regard to transferring to universities in Egypt.

Egypt has stepped up its evacuation efforts in Sudan as it managed to evacuate 1,140 citizens on Wednesday, bringing up the total to 2,679, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Egypt evacuated on Wednesday 443 citizens via land and 697 others via seven flights within the framework of the current air bridge with Sudan to evacuate Egyptian citizens, the ministry said.
