CAIRO – 26 April 2023: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Wednesday that members of the diplomatic mission in Khartoum had been relocated to another area in Sudan because of the increase in threats and risks ensued from the persistence of the armed conflict.

The ministry pointed out that the decision would allow workers at the embassy, consulate, and technical bureaus to carry on the tasks pertinent to the evacuation of Egyptian nationals.

The statement showcased that concerned state agencies consistently make assessments of the security status in Sudan in order to implement the evacuation plan in a way that would ensure the safety of Egyptian citizens.

It further noted that consulates in Port Sudan and Wadi Halfa continue to fulfill their duties with regard to evacuating nationals.

The ministry announced Tuesday the evacuation of 635 Egyptian citizens from Sudan upping the total to 1,539, as 189 were flown back, while 446 crossed urban borders.

Coordination is underway to evacuate a number of Egyptian families on flights that would take off from an airport located near the capital, Khartoum, once the security conditions improve.
