CAIRO – 20 April 2023: Egypt is expected to see warm days and cool nights during Eid El-Fitr holiday this week, said the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
However, areas in eastern Egypt may witness light rain over the coming days.
Egypt and the Arab and Islamic countries are preparing to sight the crescent of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar after Ramadan, tonight to find out whether they will celebrate the first day of Eid El-Fitr on Friday or on Saturday.
According to the EMA, Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and northern Upper Egypt are expected to see warm weather during daytime until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, hot weather will prevail in South Sinai and extremely hot weather will be seen in southern Upper Egypt.
There is a 30 percent chance for light rain and perhaps thunder in the northeastern coasts, Red Sea mountains, and South Sinai on Thursday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the EMA said.
Average temperatures based on the EMA expectations:
- Cairo and Lower Egypt – Highs: 28 - Lows: 17
- Northern coasts – Highs: 25 – Lows: 15
- South Sinai – Highs: 31 – Lows: 21
- Northern Upper Egypt – Highs: 32 – Lows: 16
- Southern Upper Egypt – Highs: 37 – Lows: 21
