CAIRO – 19 April 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Wednesday a phone call from UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs James Cleverly and Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Albares who expressed their countries' concern about the updates of the Sudanese crisis, and the deterioration of the security status.
Minister Shokry displayed the outcomes of the Egyptian communications on that front, and Egypt's detailed assessment of the current situation, stipulating the salience of brokering a ceasefire between the warring parties.
The minister underscored that the existing conflict must be dealt with as an internal affair, so as no foreign party shall interfere in a way that would cripple the peaceful solution. He also stressed the importance of integrating regional and international efforts targeted at the containment of the crisis.
The Egyptian minister agreed with each of his UK and Spanish counterparts on maintaining consultation and coordination in the coming days.
