Egypt aims to unify message communicated to Sudanese warring parties: FM

CAIRO – 19 April 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Tuesday a phone call from Omani counterpart El Sayed Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamoud Al Busaidi tackling developments in Sudan.

The Egyptian minister presented the efforts deployed by Egypt to contain the crisis, and communications held with regional and international parties, including on the Arab and African levels, with the aim of unifying the message addressed to Sudanese parties.

The minister stipulated the gravity of the persistence of the current confrontations which inflict serious harm on the Sudanese people. In that framework, the two ministers agreed on pushing forward endeavors aimed at accomplishing a ceasefire, which preserves Sudanese lives and properties.

The phone call also covered the necessity of implementing the outcomes and recommendations of the emergency meeting held at the Arab League earlier this week on the level of permanent representatives. Thus, both ministers agreed on maintaining consultation and coordination in the coming days.
