CAIRO – 19 April 2023: Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces declared Wednesday the transfer of Egyptian troops - who have been in the country as part of joint exercises with the Sudanese Army - to the capital, Khartoum, from Merwy Airport.

The militia assured - in its statement – the troops' families and the Egyptian people about the safety of the soldiers, saying it would turn them back once the circumstances are convenient.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Monday with the Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces (SCAF) saying that Egypt was ready to mediate between the warring parties in Sudan, the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces, to achieve a ceasefire and resolve the crisis.

Military Spokesperson Gharib Abd al-Hafez had stated earlier that coordination was ongoing with counterparts in Sudan to ensure the security and safety of Egyptian troops in the aftermath of the clashes that erupted on Saturday.
