CAIRO – 10 April 2023: Egypt's national carrier "EgyptAir" announced on Monday that it will start operating direct flights between Cairo and Bangladesh's capital, Dhaka, as of May 14.
Ihab El-Tahtawy, chairman of EgyptAir Airlines Company, said the flag carrier will operate two weekly flights between Cairo and Dhaka via Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
On the first day of operation, 14 May, EgyptAir will offer a 50 percent discount for the business class seats and also for the tourism class, El-Tahtawy added.
Civil Aviation Minister Mohamed Abbas Helmi said the launch of the new flight service comes in line with the Egyptian State's directives to consolidate ties between Egypt and Asian countries in general and Bangladesh in particular.
Egypt attaches great importance to the file of relations with East Asian countries and Bangladesh in Eastern South Asia, Helmi said.
The minister further noted that the operation of an air route between Cairo and Dhaka reflects the distinguished cooperation between the two sides over more than 50 years.
