More than 1k speeding violations detected in Cairo in 24 hrs

CAIRO - 10 April 2023: A total of 1,126 speeding violations were detected in Cairo in 24 hours, according to a Sunday statement by the General Traffic Department.

Dozens of axes, highways, bridges, and roads have been built in the past few years, with more of such projects inaugurated regularly to solidify road networks and infrastructure in the country after decades of stagnation.

In parallel, dozens of speed radars have been installed on the new roads to control speeding, traffic laws, and driver behavior. 

Drivers have been complaining on social media about the spread of radars. Others have mentioned that while radars have increased, some new roads lack signs that announce the speed limit.
