CAIRO – 9 April 2023: Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Arab Affairs Alaa Mousa met last week with UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen David Gressly during the latter's visit to Cairo.
The meeting tackled the latest international endeavors to accelerate the salvage of the ageing oil tanker FSO Safer. The vessel has been moored off the west coast of Yemen for over three decades and has not been properly maintained since the eruption of the civil war in the country, which puts it at the risk of breaking apart.
In a related context, Mousa shed light on the Egyptian efforts targeted at the support of Yemen and its people. That is in addition to the services provided to Yemenis in Egypt as well as the humanitarian and medical aid sent to the most hostile areas in the country.
On his side, Gressly valued the role of Egypt aimed at accomplishing peace in Yemen and ending the suffering of its people, affirming keenness on coordinating UN humanitarian work in Yemen with Egypt, the ministry's Facebook page indicated Sunday.
