CAIRO – 3 April 2023: President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, expressed his aspiration to visit Egypt and meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, praising his prominent role in resolving regional disputes.
Speaking to Al Qahyra News in an interview that is to be broadcast on Tuesday, President Christodoulides said that the talks of the aspired visit would include very important files for bilateral relations, especially in the fields of energy, tourism and defense.
The Cypriot president stated that his visit to Egypt is the second oversea trip after Greece.
Christodoulides affirmed that his country has a role in supporting the European-Egyptian relations.
He also appreciated the Egyptian president's efforts to restore the pioneering and pivotal role and the "unprecedented” reforms President Sisi is carrying out for the benefit of the Egyptians.
On 13 February 2023, Egypt’s President Sisi congratulate Christodoulides on assuming his position. In an official statement, Sisi wished every success in leading Cyprus and its people towards further progress and prosperity.
