Matrouh’s Nijaylah Hospital to provide treatment for Libyans

CAIRO – 18 July 2017: Egyptian Minister of Health Ahmed Emad El-Din ordered that Nijaylah Hospital in Marsa Matrouh governorate provide treatment and medical care to Libyan citizens, rather than them travelling to Cairo or Alexandria.

It came during a press conference held Monday after Emad El-Din had inspected renovation works of Nijaylah Hospital worth LE 200 million ($11.13 million), in preparation for the re-opening ceremony that will be attended by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi within the coming days.

The conference was held in the presence of Matrouh Governor Alaa Abu Zeid, who asserted that the Nijaylah area would witness major developments in the coming period as part of the development plan for western Egypt adopted by President Sisi.

The hospital is located on an area of 8,000 square meters and includes 24 beds, 9 intensive care rooms, eight clinics and an integrated lab, at a cost of LE 90 million for construction, LE 90 million for medical equipment and LE 20 million for basic facilities.

Since the February 2011 Revolution that overthrew long-time Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, the country has suffered from chaos, the absence of medical and social services.
