CAIRO- 18 July 2017: The Criminal Court of Damanhour, the capital of Beheira governorate, sentenced to death eight members of a terrorist cell that shot at the police department of the town Abou El Matamir in the case No. 17086/2015 on Monday.

The court also gave a life sentence to two plaintiffs and sentenced 10 others to 10 years in prison.

The arraignment included accusations of joining an outlawed group, in this case the Muslim Brotherhood, opening fire at the police department of Abou El Matmir, illegal possession of weapons, and exploding high-voltage transmission lines.

Investigations revealed that these terrorists were trained in using firearms and manufacturing explosive devices in order to undertake terrorist operations in Abou El Matamir and the surrounding area.

The terrorists were arrested in 2015, and their prosecution started in the same year after investigations by police and the public prosecution had been finished.
