UAE astronaut captures video of Egypt from space

CAIRO – 30 March 2023: Emirati astronaut Sultan al-Neyadi captured a video of Egypt from space and sent a message to the Egyptian people.

“The words of Late Sheikh Zayed, 'Egypt's renaissance is a renaissance for all Arabs,' remain just as powerful and relevant today as when they were first spoken. His enduring love for Egypt has seeped into the heart of Emiratis nationwide. As I gaze down from space on this land, I extend my greetings to Egypt and its warm people,” he tweeted on Tuesday.

On February 14, 2022, NASA wished everyone a happy Valentine's Day by posting a photo of the heart-shaped Faiyum Oasis in Egypt.

The photo was taken by an astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS) while orbiting over Egypt in May 2021.

It is worth mentioning that Space for Humanity, a nonprofit whose mission is to expand access to space for all of humanity, has chosen engineer Sara Sabry as their Citizen Astronaunt-2 to go to space on New Shepard's flight no. 22 from Blue Origin, making her the first ever Egyptian Citizen Astronaunt to fly to space.

The Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) congratulated Sara and expressed pride and support for her. She will be flying for the first time to space along with five other astronauts from the US, Portugal, and the UK.
