Egyptian president briefed on New Imams Training Programme

CAIRO – 29 March 2023: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Wednesday with Minister of Endowments Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa to learn about the updates of the New Imams Training Programme, consisting of lectures delivered by scholars specialized in the fields of Islamic studies, humanities, and social sciences.

The president urged the minister to ensure that Imams are up to date with contemporary issues, and that they are well equipped to give relevant religious advice that must be characterized by moderation and open-mindedness.

The minister also gave an overview of delegating Imams and Quran reciters to world countries during the Holy Month of Ramadan. On that front, the president stressed the importance of selecting the best elements for that mission.

The meeting also tackled the preparation for an international conference on the role of digital media in carrying out religious discourse. It also covered updates on the growth of the Endowments Authority's revenues, which are remarkably and steadily on the rise.
