CAIRO – 27 March 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, directed on Monday Tahya Misr Fund (Long Live Egypt) to allocate LE 1 billion to support the Initiative to end waiting lists and expedite treatment for patients in critical situations, Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi said.
The initiative, that was launched in 2018, includes surgeries in heart catheterisation, bone, ophthalmology, tumors, brain catheters, cardiac catheters, brain and nerves, kidney transplant, liver transplant and cochlear transplant.
In June 2022, Egypt’s ministry of Health and Population announced that the number of expedite surgeries carried out for patients on waiting lists has amounted to 1.3 million since the launching of the presidential initiative in 2018.
The surgeries included in the initiative are kidney transplant, liver transplant, cochlear transplant, tumors, cardiac catheters, brain catheters, and others pertaining to heart, bones, eyes, brain and nerves.
