CAIRO – 17 July 2017: The British Embassy launched on Monday the Oil & Gas International Scholarship Program for up to 2,000 employees over the coming five years, British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson said in a press release.
“Nothing powers the Egyptian economy like British support for the oil and gas sector,” Casson said. “This year alone, over $ 7 billion of UK investments are bringing hard currency for Egyptian banks, new jobs for Egyptians, new energy supplies for Egypt.”
This scholarship, which was launched at the British Embassy, aims to give Egypt’s oil and gas workers the qualifications to make Egypt the energy superpower of the eastern Mediterranean.
The launch was attended by representatives of more than 80 of the top oil and gas companies in Egypt, including British Petroleum, Exxon Mobil, Petrojet, EGAS, GASCO, Shell and ECHEM.
The program was designed by London’s International Academy for Advanced Research and Studies (IARS) and Pearson, the largest awarding body in the UK, in partnership with Oil and Gas Skills Egypt (OGS).
