Egypt’s government trains up to 290,000 women to qualify them for labor market: Social Solidarity minster

CAIRO – 20 March 2023: Egypt’s Minster of Social Solidarity Nivine El-Kabbag said on Monday that the government financed up to 400,000 micro-projects, of which women represent 75% of the beneficiaries with soft loans for those who are unable financially.

During her speech at the Egyptian women celebration attended by president Abdel Fattah al Sisi and his spouse, el Kabbag noted that 290,000 women have been trained to be qualified for the labor market.

She also confirmed that Egypt has 44 service centers for working women.

 

Egypt’s Minster also highlighted that ‘Mawaddah initiative’, launched by the Presidency to train young men and women before marriage, managed to train 5,800,000 young people.

She added that nearly 11 centers were established to receive women victims of violence, including a center for combating human trafficking.

‘The Social solidarity Ministry was also keen to double the exhibitions of productive families to reach 12 exhibitions annually, of which women represent 74% of them’, Minster Nivine El-Kabbag said during her speech.

She said that women have the largest share of pension beneficiaries, with a total of 60 million cards.

El-Kabbag confirmed that the government paid the debts of 5,000 convicted women ‘Gharemat’ with a cost of LE207 million.

She also stressed that nearly one million women with disabilities along with elderly women receive social care services at a cost of LE2 billion annually.

During the celebration ceremony President Sisi and his spouse Intisar al Sisi stood for a photo-op with a number of role models of Egyptian women.

This came during the 2023 ceremony to honor Egyptian women and ideal mothers, held at the Manara International Conferences Center in New Cairo.

Sisi granted certificates of appreciation and Order of the Virtue to ideal mothers and some respectable ladies.

The ceremony is also attended by Senate Speaker Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Said, Social Solidarity Minister Nevine el Kabbaj, Head of the National Council for Women Maya Morsi and a number of senior state officials.
