CAIRO – 17 March 2023: Egyptian president Abdel Fattah al Sisi, inaugurated on Friday the ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ initiative that aims to distribute up to 6 million packages of foods in 10 different governorates all over the country.
During a celebration at Cairo international stadium, Sisi extend his appreciation and greetings to the people of Egypt and congratulate both of the Arab and Islamic nations on the holy month of Ramadan.
“Today, we celebrate a new victory for 'unity' and 'societal solidarity', in which the Egyptians have always been an example and a role model” Sisi said in speech.
He described the celebration as a 'wonderful humanitarian scene'.
“We see before our eyes a 'wonderful humanitarian scene', and I extend my thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to this success” Sisi added.
He also praised the role of the National Alliance for Civil Work that was launched in March 2022.
Sisi said: “No one can deny the great efforts' which Egypt's National Alliance for Civil Work have done.”
He also noted that during the past years, Egypt has faced many troubles and difficulties, however “we were able to overcome them and emerged stronger and even more solid”
Sisi renewed his promises and his pledge to the Egyptian people to move forward towards more work and construction.
“I also would like to thank the Egyptian people for their efforts and sacrifices, and for proving to the world many times their ability to overcome challenges.”
He added: “I was honored to assume the responsibility of the country 9 years ago, and since then we were only seek peace, security, and stability, as we always will follow the path of construction and development”
Shedding light on Haya Karima [Decent Life] initiative, Sisi said that he first phase of the initiative to develop Egypt's countryside have reached LE350 Billion.
He also noted that the total cost of the initiative that seek to improve the quality of life of 58 million Egyptians, may reach one trillion LE.
During the celebration President Sisi thanked all volunteers and participants in the National Alliance for Civil Development Work and watched them in different governorates engaging in the ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder’ initiative work, minutes before starting the distribution process.
He said that what he saw via video conference ‘gives a wonderful example that reflects the noblest meanings and principles’
The ‘Shoulder to shoulder’ initiative kicked off in the governorates of: Giza, Fayoum, Dakahlia, Beheira, Assiut, Aswan, Alexandria, Damietta, Marsa Matrouh and Suez.
The initiative considered to be the largest social protection program in Egypt’s history which was launched by the National Alliance for Civil Development work with the aim of distributing 6 million food supplies boxed ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative also promotes the principle of ‘social solidarity’ among people, and supports the culture of voluntary work that helps in expanding the social protection network through cooperation between the government and social organizations
Egypt’s National Alliance for Civil Work was inaugurated in March 2022, and has had a major role in enriching civil work, and providing an opportunity for partnership between civil society institutions to support the most needy groups.
