CAIRO – 10 March 2023: Egypt’s new Ambassador to Rome Bassam Radi sent a message on enhancing Egyptian-Italian relations from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to his Italian counterpart, Sergio Mattarella.
The message also included a number of topics of mutual cooperation between Egypt and Italy on the regional and international levels, Radi said.
The spokesman made the remarks after a meeting with Mattarella in Rome to present his credentials as an ambassador extraordinary of Egypt to Italy.
Radi said he received direct and clear directives from President Sisi to work on developing and upgrading the Egyptian-Italian relations and to strengthen partnership between the two countries in all fields in a manner that supports their common interests.
The Italian president asked to convey his greetings to President Sisi, expressing his deep appreciation for his wise Egyptian leadership over the past years, Radi said.
Mattarella hailed Egypt as the pivotal country in the Mediterranean region that has important contributions within the framework of regional security as a whole.
Egypt is looking forward to increasing the volume of mutual momentum within the framework of the traditional economic partnership between the two sides, Radi said.
This comes especially in view of the great opportunities that these relations entail that serve the interests of both sides in various priority areas, including energy, green transition, trade, industry localization and technology transfer, Radi said.
This is in addition to regional security and political files, foremost of which are illegal immigration and the Libyan file, Radi added.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani is scheduled to visit Egypt next week, according to the Italian news agency Nova Agenzia.
Tajani’s trip, which starts with Israel then the West Bank then Egypt, will focus on the need the move forward to resolve the Israeli-Arab conflict based on the two-state soluton, according to the agency.
