CAIRO – 9 March 2023: President Abdel Fattah al Sisi spoke over the phone on Thursday with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, said the two presidents exchanged congratulations on 80 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The two presidents discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Russia, particularly through ongoing joint development projects.
Both presidents valued the historic and distinct relations that bind the two countries across various fields at the popular and official levels, while confirming further advancing these ties in the coming period.
President Sisi and President Putin discussed the latest regional and international developments. They stressed the importance of boosting efforts to reinforce stability in the Middle East and to resolve current crises in the region in a way that achieves the interests of the region's peoples.
The call also touched on ways to overcome the current global crises, particularly the food crisis. The two presidents confirmed the importance of enhancing food security, especially in the African continent, where countries have been affected more than others in this regard.
