CAIRO – 2 March 2023: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated in the 1st session of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting (G20FMM) in New Delhi on Thursday, to urge the support for the “Multilateral Development Banks' anti-poverty and sustainable development engagement, and reform debt treatment mechanisms,” Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid stated.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Egyptian minister held a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts of other countries, including British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, with whom he discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues of common interest.
Shoukry also met with Canadian counterpart Mélanie Joly. “Shoukry commended the economic and academic cooperation between the two countries and welcomed bilateral consultation and coordination on various international issues,” Abu Zeid tweeted.
Additionally, Shoukry met with Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero, and they discussed bilateral cooperation and means to enhance it amid the global economic challenges
The Egyptian minister also met with his Dutch counterpart Wopke Hoekstra, to enhance the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The G20FMM is being attended by representatives of 40 countries, including the non-G20 members. The meeting’s agenda include issues of green development and climate finance; technological transformation; digital public infrastructure; accelerating progress on SDGs; women-led development; inclusive and resilient growth; and reforming multilateral institutions.
