CAIRO – 25 February 2023: In a phone call with former Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed his appreciation and thanks to his Cypriot counterpart for the support he provided towards the strategic relations between the two countries during his term, said Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy in a statement on Saturday.
Fahmy added that the former Cypriot President’s term witnessed many important achievements, whether at the level of bilateral relations, or through the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece.
President Sisi also expressed his wishes for good health and continued success, Fahmy added.
For his part, Anastasiades expressed his great gratitude to President El-Sisi for this generous gesture, appreciating his contributions in laying the foundations for fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus over the past years, Fahmy said.
Anastasiades also affirmed his country's firm commitment to continuing to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, under the leadership of the elected President Nikos Christodoulides.
