CAIRO – 13 February 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi congratulate on Monday Cyprus newly elected President Nikos Christodoulides on assuming his position
In an official statement, Sisi wished every success in leading Cyprus and its friendly people towards further progress and prosperity.
Sisi also affirmed that the Egyptian-Cypriot relations are ‘historical’, based on a solid foundation and mutual strategic interests and cooperation.
“It gives me pleasure to extend sincere congratulations, on behalf of the government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to Mr. Nikos Christodoulides on his election as President of the Republic of Cyprus and on winning the trust of the Cypriot electorate in the elections, held on February 12. I wish him all success in leading Cyprus and its friendly people towards more progress and prosperity.” Sisi said
He added that Egypt-Cyprus relations have always been and will always be longstanding historical relations, based on a solid foundation of cultural blending, rich human exchanges and lofty values that bring us together. This is, in addition to the shared strategic interests, by virtue of geographical proximity, as well as the ongoing cooperation to address the common challenges and achieve stability, security and prosperity in our regional neighborhood.
“I look forward to continuing the active and high-level coordination and consultation with the new Cypriot leadership so as to further advance the partnership between our two countries. I would also like to express my profound appreciation to President Nicos Anastasiades for his pivotal role over the years as President of the Republic of Cyprus in strengthening and developing the Egypt-Cyprus friendship, wishing him all success in the future.” Sisi stated.
