Arab Parliament’s 5th Congress of Speakers of Arab Councils, Parliaments kicks off at AL with Egypt attending

CAIRO - 11 February 2023: The Arab Parliament's fifth Congress of Speakers of Arab Councils and Parliaments kicked off at the Arab League's HQ Saturday with the participation of AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit. 

Egypt is represented in the meeting by Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi Gebali.

The congress offers an important opportunity for probing the document, which was prepared by the Arab Parliament on the problem of food security under the rubric "Parliamentary Vision To Boost Arab Food Security."

The document calls for overcoming the most important challenges and threats facing Arab countries in food security file, in addition to the role of the parliamentarians in this regard.

AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit met with a number of heads of Arab councils and parliaments before the inauguration of the event. 

Early Saturday, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel al Assoumi had closed talks with the heads of the Arab parliaments to probe the draft document.
