CAIRO – 7 February 2023: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli received Monday evening Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly (parliament) Sahiba Gafarova, stressing the importance of capitalizing on the momentum in relations created by the Egyptian president's visit to Baku in January.
Hence, the prime minister suggested holding a new round of political consultations, and speeding up the implementation of the outcomes of the fifth meeting of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Committee for Economic, Scientific and Artistic Cooperation.
The last round of political consultations between the two countries took place in June 2021, while the committee's fifth meeting was held earlier this month in Baku in tandem with a meeting of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani Business Council.
Madbouli underscored the necessity of activating cooperation between the parliaments of the two states, and increasing trade exchange as well as investment reciprocation in the fields of constructions, transport, ICT, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and cotton textiles.
The prime minister expressed a desire to raise the amount of Egyptian exports of agricultural and food products to Azerbaijan, and presented investment opportunities in SCzone, particularly in the sector of logistics. In addition, Madbouli showed interest in cooperating with Azerbaijan in the sectors of renewable energy, natural gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
On her side, the Speaker of the Azerbaijani National Assembly presented the opportunities of trade cooperation between the two countries, pointing out to the protocols signed during the president's visit to Baku and his meeting with Azerbaijani businessmen.
In another context, the Egyptian prime minister valued the role of the Azerbaijani chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.
