Entissar El Sisi welcomes Croatia's first lady in Egypt

CAIRO – 6 February 2023: Egypt's First Lady Entissar El Sisi welcomed on Monday Croatia's First Lady Sanja Milanović in Egypt, saying that their meeting tackled several files including social protection and education systems adopted by the Egyptian state in addition to the keenness of the political leadership on protecting the rights of persons with disabilities and the political empowerment of women.

In a tweet, Egypt’s first lady said that their talks also dealt with voluntary work and initiatives to improve the quality of education and develop the Egyptian countryside, topped by the "Decent Life" initiative.

The meeting also took up raising awareness about family planning and early marriage in addition to efforts exerted in the field of public health and eradicating hepatitis C and chronic diseases, Entissar el Sisi said.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his spouse Entissar El Sisi received on Monday Croatian President Zoran Milanović and his wife at El-Ittihadiya Palace.

Upon the Croatian president's arrival at the presidential palace, an official reception was held and the national anthem was played

Milanović visited on Sunday the Croatian Memorial Cemetery of World War II refugees in Suez's El Shatt, where he laid a wreath and lit a candle in memory of 850 Croatian refugees who were buried here during their exile.

By visiting the memorial cemetery in El Shatt, Milanović began an official visit to Egypt, where he arrived with his wife Sanju Musić Milanović.

The Croatian memorial cemetery is located on the site of the El Shatt refugee camp, where almost 25,000 Croatian refugees were housed after being evacuated to Egypt during the Second World War and spent 18 months there.

After visiting the Memorial Cemetery, Milanović met with Suez Governor Abdel Majid Saqr.
