CAIRO - 29 January 2022: Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan termed on Sunday as historic President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to his country, saying friendship between the two countries is deeply-rooted.
At a joint press conference with President Sisi, the Armenian President said talks with President Sisi were fruitful as they tackled relations between the two countries over the past years and future plans to develop them.
The Armenian President said Egypt and Armenia are closely cooperating in the political, economic, cultural, scientific and tourist domains but unfortunately the volume of trade between the two countries is still not satisfactory.
Thanks to the expanded political agenda of the two countries, more efforts will be exerted by the two governments to promote cooperation in the near future and increase trade exchange, Vahagn Khachaturyan said.
Big progress was realized in cooperation domains between the two countries, he said, citing the signing of more than 50 documents for cooperation.
He said the numbers of Armenian tourists coming to Egypt are on the rise as it is considered a favorite tourist destination for many of them.
He also expected more Egyptian tourism to Armenia after facilitating entry visa procedures.
The Armenian president said he discussed with President Sisi a number of political, security and regional issues as well as his country's efforts to establish peace and stability.
He referred to the role of the Armenian-Egyptian community in boosting relations between the two countries.
He expressed gratitude to the special care attached to Armenian nationals in Egypt, saying the Armenian people will never forget the welcome they received after surviving genocide back home.
Thanks to the strong friendship binding the two countries, Armenia will be able to overcome the current stage which is marred by many challenges and go for a flourishing future, he said.
He congratulated Sisi on the good organization of the UN Climate Change Conference and the positive results it come out with.
Khachaturyan has said he personally needs the advice of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who has faced big challenges and was able to turn Egypt a stable country.
In statements during a meeting of delegations from the two countries following a meeting with President Sisi at the Armenian presidency headquarters, president Khachaturyan described the Egyptian leader's visit to Armenia as historic and the first of its kind by an Egyptian president to Armenia.
He said he exchanged with Sisi the viewpoints of the two countries on regional issues, pointing out that Egypt is a major power in the region with well-known expertise in the field of mediation tasks.
He said that Egypt promotes the agenda of peace and like Armenia, believes in peaceful co-exitance with neighbors.
The Armenian president said that his country needs Egypt's expertise in achieving peace and stability in the region.
