CAIRO – 26 January 2023: CEO of Indian renewable energy company ReNew Power Sumant Sinha affirmed that the Indian companies are willing to cooperate with Egypt in the field of renewable energy and green hydrogen production.

Sinha made the remarks in a meeting on Thursday with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi as part of the Egyptian leader’s three-day visit to India.

Sinha hailed Egypt’s pioneering role in the international climate action, which has been clear during Egypt’s recent hosting of the UN Climate Change Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

He also affirmed that Indian companies are willing to cooperate with Egypt in such fields in light of Egypt’s richness in renewable energy resources, including wind and solar energy.

Sinha stressed that the Egyptian renewable energy resources qualify the country to become among the largest producers of renewable energy in the world, enhancing the promising investment opportunities in this regard.

Sisi, for his part, stressed Egypt's keenness in cooperating with the Indian side, given the wide experience it enjoys in the field of new and renewable energy.

The president affirmed that the green energy sector in the country enjoys unprecedented support from the state as one of its most important priorities.

Earlier today, Sisi participated in India’s 74th Republic Day as chief guest as per an invitation by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and also held talks with Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Indian businessmen.

In his discussions with Modi, Sisi welcomed expanding cooperation with India, particularly in the sectors of defense, trade, tourism, culture, pharmaceuticals, and ICT.

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) indicated in a report Tuesday that trade exchange between Egypt and India recorded in the first 10 months of 2022 $5.2 billion up from $4.3 billion during the same period in 2021 with a rise of 20.8 percent.
