CAIRO - 23 January 2023: President of Cairo University, Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khosht, met in his office Dr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Egypt, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways of cooperation between Cairo University and Iraqi universities in the research and academic fields.
 
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Elkhosht expressed Cairo University's welcome to cooperate with Iraqi universities in all fields of education, research and cultural exchange in light of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
 
The President of Cairo University affirmed that Iraq is one of the oldest peoples in the world and has a great history and ancient civilization, and possesses distinguished human cadres, stressing the strength of Egyptian-Iraqi relations throughout history.
 
The meeting dealt with the situation of Iraqi students at Cairo University, where Dr. Elkhosht affirmed the university's keenness to provide all facilities to Iraqi students, and to overcome any difficulties they may face during their study period.
 
For his part, the Iraqi ambassador praised Cairo University's position globally and its great scientific value, and invited Dr. Muhammad Al-Khosht, President of the University, to visit Iraqi universities, expressing his desire to open horizons of cooperation with Cairo University and sign memorandums of understanding.
 
He further pointed to the increase in the number of Iraqi students who are eager to study at the faculties of Cairo University.
 
The Iraqi ambassador stressed the strength of the strategic relations between the two countries, and that Egypt is a country of science, culture and economy.
 
He noted that Egypt has about 25,000 Iraqi expatriate students studying at its universities, noting that the Ministry of Higher Education in Iraq has allocated scholarships for Cairo University students to study in Iraq.
