Egypt's FM holds talks with Denmark's Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy

CAIRO – 16 January 2023: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry met Monday with Danish Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy Dan Joergensen on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

Minister Shokry expressed appreciation for Denmark's contribution to climate action, as it hosted the ministerial meeting on the implementation of climate pledges in May, and Minister Joergensen was facilitating negotiations on climate mitigation during COP 27. That is in addition to the country's large experience in wind energy.

In turn, the Danish minister praised the Egypt-hosted COP 27 in achieving success in multiple aspects of climate action, saying he looked forward to holding consultations with the country until COP 28 is held in the UAE by the end of 2023.

The minister of foreign affairs and COP 27 president noted the pivotal role of international financing institutions in funding climate action, and the necessity of securing funds to the Green Climate Fund.
