Egypt, IFAD's joint project 'SAIL' builds 8 schools in Aswan, Beni Suef

CAIRO – 12 January 2023: The Sustainable Agricultural Investments and Livelihoods Project (SAIL) is building eight schools in Upper Egypt. Seven of those are located in Aswan, while one lies in Beni Suef.

 

SAIL is a joint project between the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The duration of the project is between 2014 and 2023, and its cost is $94.67 million.

 

The share of IFAD is $69.6 million, and that of the Egyptian government is $15.21 million. Also, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) is taking part with $7.81 million.

 

The school built in Beni Suef is an elementary one, and so are five of those in Aswan, while the remaining two are high schools.

 

In a similar context, Decent Life initiative renovated and built 410 schools in Aswan by September 2022.
