CAIRO - 9 January 2023: Egypt has extended condolences to Senegal over a bus crash that killed more than 40 people on Sunday.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry extended sincere condolences to the families of victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
He also voiced Egypt's solidarity with the Senegalese people and government.
Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayyeb also condoled with Senegalese President Macky Sall on Monday over the tragic accident.
Tayyeb expressed Al Azhar's full solidarity with Senegal.
The Grand Imam extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
At least 40 people were killed and dozens injured in a bus crash in central Senegal, the country's president has said.
Sall tweeted that the collision happened in Gnivy village, in the Kaffrine region, at about 3:30 a.m.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic road accident today in Gniby causing 40 deaths and many serious injuries. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” ABC News quoted Sall as saying in the tweet.
He declared three days of mourning starting Monday and said he will hold an inter-ministerial council to discuss road safety measures.
