CAIRO - 9 January 2023: The National Alliance for Civil Development Work held its first conference, on Monday in the presence and honor of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Since the inauguration of the National Alliance for Civil Work, in March 2022, it has had a major role in enriching civil work, and provided an opportunity for partnership between civil society institutions to support the most needy groups.
The alliance has also devoted its efforts to achieving sustainable development goals through concerted societal efforts, especially after President El-Sisi declared 2022 as the year to civil society.
The National Alliance for Civil Development Action is the first alliance of its kind in Egypt. It includes the General Federation of Associations, all regional and specific federations, and the most prominent leading civil society institutions and associations with well-known efforts and successful experiences in helping the limited inside the country.
Alliance initiatives
Over the course of nearly a year, the National Alliance for Civil Development Work launched many initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable groups, and played an important role in supporting the government in helping low-income people, by providing them with financial support and economic empowerment, in addition to supporting widows and orphans.
Over the past months, more than 20 meetings were held to coordinate social support initiatives, launching its first initiative, “Connecting Goodness in Ramadan, at a cost of two billion pounds.” He also launched the “Connecting Goodness 2” initiative, which includes providing greater services in the governorates.
The National Alliance for Civil Work for Development participates in the national dialogue with the National Academy for Training, and has contributed to supporting the social protection umbrella with 9 billion pounds.
Financial support
The financial support carried out by the National Alliance for Civil Development Work covered 107,000 families with a total of 56 million pounds through the Egyptian House of Zakat and Charities.
Food support was also provided through the Egyptian Food Bank, which represented hot school meals integrated with nutrients to support school feeding, covering 35 thousand students in 10 governorates, at a total cost of one million pounds per day, in order to cover the entire academic year, so that the cost reaches 200 million pounds.
The festival for the distribution of educational supplies in the governorates was also launched, which was organized by the Orman Association at a cost of about 20 million pounds. Children were invited to attend and all their educational needs were provided for free.
In December 2022, the National Coalition for Civil Work announced the provision of social and material support to 420,000 families in all governorates, and we are implementing 200,000 projects in all villages of Egypt.
2023 Agenda
Those successes achieved by the National Coalition for Civil Work give a strong impetus to achieve more in the field of civil work and support the most needy groups during the next stage.
According to statements by officials of the Coalition, there are important files that will be tackled during the year 2023, the most important of which are: economic empowerment, health and social files, and there are files exceeding 15 billion pounds.
