CAIRO – 6 January 2023: Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has congratulated people on Christmas, stressing that the country will never deviate from coexistence and belief in the national unity.
In a social media post on Friday, Sisi said that such “pleasant occasion brings us together on the love of the homeland and affirms that we are on the path of citizenship”.
“We will never deviate from coexistence and genuine belief in the unity of the homeland and human community,” the president stated.
“On this occasion, I invite you to be inspired by the pleasant meanings established by the Lord Christ, peace be upon him, of love, tolerance, forgiveness, and benevolence,” Sisi stated.
“May you be blessed every year with all goodness and peace and may Egypt always and forever live in safety and security,” the president added.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited Pope Tawadros II, the head of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church, to congratulate him on Christmas.
During their meeting, Madbouly extended his wishes of continuous blessings and health to the pope and Egyptian Christians on this occasion.
The pope, for his part, wished further success for the government and the state on the path of progress.
Spokesman for the Coptic Orthodox Church Moussa Ibrahim has announced that the Christmas mass will be held in the New Administrative Capital (NAC)'s Cathedral of the Birth of the Christ.
The services will be held on Friday night, the 6th of January, and led by Pope Tawadros II and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese.
The church will open its doors for the invited guests at 5:00 pm, he noted.
